the last chapter....of an unforgettable experience

and so, its come to the end of an amazing chapter in my life. What an experience, what an adventure! Saturday June 22 2013 will mark a day in my life where I conquered my fears of being on stage, a time in my life where I doubted myself ever being able to achieve anything and to now understand the meaning of "working hard pays off".

Backstage was hectic! a bunch of beautiful and ripped up woman and men getting in the last minute touch ups. The smell of spray tan was in the air mixed with an energy of excitement and anticipation. Never in my life, would I have imagined I'd be surrounded by female and male bodybuilders and I was proud to be there and be one of them. I felt a sense of empowerment that could only come from hard work, dedication and persistence add the positive energy backstage and I knew I was in the right place. I often stopped and wondered what it would be like to sit on top of the world knowing that all your hard work is sitting beneath you and I felt just that on Saturday; on top of the world. I was happy, anxious, nervous, overwhelmed and excited. Was I able to keep it together? For that part I give all the credit to Diana,  if she wouldn't have been there with me telling me what to do next, I would have more than likely had an anxiety attack! Diana kept me focused on what was next, what I was suppose to be doing, she forced me to RELAX lol and BREATH! I placed in top 20 for bikini division and also fitness round. Even at the event I forgot that we were placing at the end lol. I was out there having fun, soaking in the moment and feeling the positive energy backstage. Its an amazing feeling knowing that everyone that surrounds you is going thru the same emotion, feeling and of course craving water and sweets! Its the one time in this entire journey where I saw over 100 woman and men dedicated  to this sport. As many of you know, I trained in my basement and my social life wasn't all that exciting for 6 months but to see all the athletes was a very touching moment for me because I realized that, what I felt and how I started and ended my days, another athlete out there was doing the same.

SO! how did my day start? here's what happened:

7:00am- RISE & SHINE COMPETITION DAY
7:15am- STARTED PACKING ALL MY STUFF
7:45am- ALL PACKED UP
7:50am- ON THE PHONE WITH DIANA! :)
8:10am- DOUBLE CHECK MAKE SURE I HAVE EVERYTHING PACKED MY BIKINI READY/FOOD READY/FITNESS ATIRE READY.
8:30am- HEAD OVER TO HAIR AND MAKE-UP (running late)
I was suppose to be at the venue at 9am, panicked a little when it was already 9am and we were just getting my make-up done lol but stayed calm!
9:45am- ARRIVED AT THE VENUE!
10AM-2:30PM- DIDN'T CHECK THE TIME ONCE, IT WAS GO GO GO!

How would I describe my over all experience at the competition?

I'm so lucky to have come across UFE. I don't see myself having competed with any other organization. All the UFE staff was helpful making my experience one to remember forever and I would love to compete again with UFE. A special thank you to Sean Everingham, who provides such an awesome event for us to showcase the hard work we have been training for and providing us with a stage to stand and feel on top of the world! Thank you so much! A special thank you to Brianna Mogg for her constant attention to each athlete making it comforting for us to approach her. Thank you for your caring disposition and your constant positivity (by the way she has the BIGGEST smile I ever seen on anyone!!!) UFE is by far a natural bodybuilding organization I'd love to compete with again and I'm more than honoured to represent them as they are truly an all natural bodybuilding event! last but not least the woman who made me look and feel like a sexy bombshell! MONACO SUN!!! Louise, Vanessa and Maria thank you so much for making me feel so special and looked after. I'm so blessed to have met the 3 of you. Louise, you're an amazing woman, your words of encouragement helped me so much, you made me feel confidant and welcomed! Vanessa, you worked your magic! I still can't believe how AMAZING you are with make-up!!! you work wonders! Thank you for boosting me up and giving me the look that best suited me! I truly did not recognize myself!!! Your amazing! and your my go-to make-up artist! Maria, you worked my hair and it stayed curly thru all the hectic, sweaty and humid conditions backstage! EVERYONE was loving my curls!!!! Thank you so much!!!

Many of you have been asking what's next for me? well, I will be venturing off into nutrition! Its one of the most asked questions I get! WHAT DO I EAT AND HOW MUCH? well, I will be taking a holistic course in the Fall, as many of you know I'm not one to take over the counter drugs or anything made in a lab or injected with hormones and I know that natural nutrition is my calling. I'm looking forward to learning a lot and also sharing with all of you my findings and what I learn. I am working on a new blog to post everything I'm learning and will be learning! I hope that all of you continue on your journey and never be afraid of the unknown couse its venturing into the unknown where we learn about ourselves. Thank you to all who have followed me to the stage and I do plan on competing again only that I would like to do light weight figure, I feel its more my style. Stay tuned!!
